USAID/Mozambique's Strategic Objective 7 (SO7) support efforts that: a) increase international market access for Mozambican products and services; and b) enhance Mozambique’s competitiveness by reducing the costs of doing business. Two technical assistance projects help Mozambique achieve these objectives:
- The USAID Trade and Investment Project (TIP), which supports the creation of supportive enabling environment as well as with trade and economic policy reform; and
- The Northern Mozambique Tourism Project (NMTP), which promotes Mozambique as a tourism destination, assists in increasing tourists Mozambique, assists in attracting increased investment in the tourism sector and assists in preserving Mozambique’s environmental assets.

Trade & Investment Project Overview

Mozambique must continue to grow rapidly over the next decade in order to reduce poverty. Such growth will depend, in part, on the ability of Mozambique to take advantage of opportunities in international trade and investment by reducing transaction costs, increasing investment, and improving the competitiveness of labor-intensive industries. To assist Mozambique with this strategy, USAID/Mozambique has launched the Trade and Investment Project (TIP) which will provide technical assistance to the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MIC); to the Confederation of Mozambican Business Associations (CTA); and to other institutions as necessary. Tourism Project Overview

The purpose of the Northern Mozambique Tourism Project (NMTP) is: (1) To improve the promotion of a Northern Mozambique tourism product, attracting more tourists to the region: (2) to increase investment in the tourims sector in the region to effectively accomodate and benefit from an expansion of the tourism industry; and (3) to preserve key environmental assests on which Northern Mozambique is based.
